Day 24: Plan: Darbhanga Patna Allahabad Lucknow
Day 24:
Plan for the day : Darbhanga Patna Allahabad Lucknow.
Target Kms. 740 kms
As I had fallen short of target of reaching Patna by 150 kms yesterday, I had quite a bit of covering up to do so I started off by 6:00AM, planning to reach Patna by about 9:30 so that I could quickly have an oil change and head out towards Lucknow through Allahabad route as I was suggested that would be the best way to reach Lucknow.
So riding through Muzzafarpur I reached Patna by about 9:30 AM crossing river Ganga. Locating a Royal Enfied service center took me another 45 minutes in the city traffic of Patna. It took the technicians about 45 minutes to change the oil, oil filter & do a bit of adjustments. In peak traffic, I was stuck with still a long long way to go about 590 kms. By about 11:30 AM I was on the outskirts of Patna riding towards Allahabad.
To my bad luck, I was bid goodbye by Bihar & welcomed by Uttar Pradesh by moderately decent roads and quite a bit of heavy traffic. It was almost 6:30 PM by the time I reached the Bihar, Uttar Pradesh border. At the border, the traffic was piled up for almost a couple of kilometers. I was wondering if I should call it a day or continue further and since I wanted to reach New Delhi by 5th October, I thought it would be best for me to continue till about 9:00PM or so. While waiting for the pile up to clear I thought why not make hay while the sun shines so I saw a dhaba & jumped into it to have a light dinner. Since I had quite a bit of riding to do, I decided to eat just some dry vegetables & a cup of tea instead of hogging rice or rotis, as I knew once I started eating them, then I would surely not be able to stop at little.
I then continued riding ahead. It was a four lane road and the conditions too were decent so I was riding with a decently good speed where there were no pile up of traffic. By the time I reached Allahabad, it was almost 10:00 PM.
To reach Lucknow I still had 200 Kms and I wondered if it would make any sense to risk riding at night with heavy truck traffic & non familiar territory. I finally decided its best to call it a day and leave early the next morning.
Route taken : Darbhanga, Muzzafarpur, Patna, Arrah, Sasaram, Chandauli, Allahabad.
Road conditions: Moderate to decent towards all the way but 2 kms of Traffic jam at Bihar Uttar Pradesh Border spilled cold water over my target of reaching Lucknow.
What caused the delay: Stoppage for oil change, Traffic in & out of Patna & about 2 kms long traffic jam near Bihar Uttar Pradesh border.
Kms Done: 531 kms
Destination tomorrow: Allahabad-Lucknow-New Delhi (740 kms)

Fried Potatoes, Capsicum, Tomatoes loaded with chillies. Garma garam Chai.
