Day 21:Imphal-Kohima-Dimapur-Tezpur

Day 21:

Imphal-Kohima-Dimapur-Tezpur

Target Kms: 425.

Going to bed last night I was praying that hopefully the next morning would be a great day. I got up by 5:30 AM planning to start off before 6:00AM as I also had to get the shocks checked at the Dimapur KTM. I started off by 5:50 AM and refueled #StormShadow and hit the Asia Highway 1 back to reach Dimapur by 11:00AM.

Outskirts of Imphal

On the way I was caught by a little heavy fog & drizzle which delayed me to certain extent. I stopped for tea as the drizzle was quite heavy but later the weather became awesome and the ride was marvelous but for the roads. The surroundings were too attractive and I had to stop a lot to take pictures. Overall it was an amazing ride till Kohima.

Somewhere near Manipur Nagaland Border

In Nagaland

That's what Nagaland stands for.

In Nagaland I saw a roadside fruit/vegetable stall in the middle of nowhere. There was a girl selling fruits and vegetables. I wanted to try a guava and asked her the cost. She said each bunch kept there (as in pic) cost INR 50. I told her I just wanted to taste one. She said I could taste one for Free. I was amazed to listen to it. I however tasted a couple of guavas and paid her INR 10. She said that she would not charge me for that but I insisted and she unwillingly accepted it finally.

After Kohima too the roads were in mixed condition till Dimapur. Finally I reached Dimapur by about 12:30 PM.

Finding the KTM Service Center took me about 30 minutes. Finally I reached the KTM Service center in Dimapur by about 1:00PM. The guys at the service center finally fixed the shocks by 2:15 and I started off from Dimapur by about 2:30.PM. I was being guided by Tashi from Royal Arunachal Riders.

Storm Shadow getting shocks repaired

While in Dimapur KTM workshop I got a message for Gaurav Bro from Delhi saying Grey Stallion had reached the Kawasaki SVC in New Delhi.

Tashi guided me to take the Golaghat, Numarligarh, Kazirangha, Kaliabor, Tezpur route. There was noway I could have reached Itanagar the same day so I decided that Tezpur would be the best place to halt for that day. The roads were decent and passed through dense forests and was an awesome ride all the way till it got dark. By the time I crossed Kaziranga it was about 7:00PM. To my bad luck the charger on torm Shadow was not working and my mobiles were almost drained out. As I had no navigation, I missed the turn at Kaliabor and went straight ahead towards Nagaon for about 20 odd kms almost till Samaguri before asking a passerby. He then asked me to ride back 20kms and then take a left. To my bad luck by now even the digital meter on Storm Shadow had started acting funny.

However finally I made it to Tezpur by about 9:30. I was almost hungry as a lion and as sleepy as a sloth. I went to one hotel to check out their rates and they said the lowest they had was INR 2500. I thought that was too much for me and I enquired a bit and found a smaller place with good parking for about INR 500. That was just perfect for me for the night. I unloaded my stuff, and straight away headed to a restaurant close by. The restaurant was nice but was completely empty I was wondering if the food would be tasty but I had no strength to walk out and hunt for another so I thought I might as well take a chance. To my good luck the food was amazing and economical. I gobbled up leaving my plate as shiny as it came in. Am sure the dishwasher would have wondered why the steward brought a washed plate again to wash. I then headed straight to the hotel and jumped into the bed. I message Tashi as to how soon I could reach them the next morning as I had to head back to Siliguri the next day after visiting Itanagar.

End of day 21.
