Day 9: Dharamnagar- Unakoti- Kailashahar-Agartala
Day 9:
Dharamnagar- Unakoti- Kailashahar-Agartala
Kms Planned: 190 kms.
As I had to do just about 190 kms that day and Anijit had
asked me not to miss Unakoti, I got up a little relaxed and started off by
7:00am.
I first went to the Dharamnagar Police Station to thank Mr. Jayanta Karmakar. He was delighted to see me. We sat in his office talking about my ride and he shared some insights about North East. He offered me tea and we had a good chat.
I then started off towards Unakoti. As I reached Unakoti, it
was drizziling and saw a team from BSF there who were there at Unakoti to see
that cleanliness was being maintained & maintain the place as a community
service. They had finished cleaning the place and were having lunch. The
offered me lunch and I readily joined them. There I met a few Jawans from
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra too. The Head of the BSF unit Mr. Thakur (Name
changed as he did not want to be named) was also there. He invited me their
camp for a cup of Chai.
This is how my bike looked early in the morning cos of yesterday's ride.

I then rode to the BSF camp and met Mr. Thakur (Name changed
as he did not want to be named). He was from Rajasthan and was posted in
Tripura since about a couple of years. He shared his experiences in the border
areas from the extreme west to east. We had some Chai & Pakoras. I then took leave as I had to reach Agartala before dark. He advised me to take the border route
instead of the highway as it was a much scenic & had less traffic.
The route was amazing with very little patches of bad roads
and had loads of twists but were quite narrow. Riding on them was ecstatic. By
about 5:40 pm I reached Agartala & rode straight to XED Motorcycles to meet
Anijit Saha. I also met David who had come there to get his Thunderbird serviced
at XED Motorcycles the only dealer of Royal Enfield Motorcycles in Tripura. http://www.xedmotorcycles.com/#
Me at XED Motorcycles. An RE is stripped & mounted on the wall behind me.
Anijit & I then went to Raasta Cafe https://www.facebook.com/RaastaCafeAgartala/
and met Biraj & Vinit Roy. We had awesome food and great time. By the time we left from Raasta Cafe it was
about 1 am. Anijit asked me to stay at his place for the night. Tonight am sleeping
in at his place.

Some beautiful time spent at Unakoti, an amazing lunch with BSF team at Unakoti & nice tea, pakoras & chat with the BSF team at camp.
