Day 17:
All set to restart the run. Damn Excited.. Yuppie!!
Damn this train is chugging so slow. I so wanted to reach Siliguri ASAP and pick Storm Shadow and ride off immediately. Well but I had to have a few basic checks before I rode off so I controlled my emotions and said to myself "Hold your Horses Buddy" Travelling along with me were 3 other guys. One of them was Abhishek from Bihar.
I reached Siliguri by about 12:00 PM. I then went straight to the hotel, checked myself in and called on this Versys owner who was stuck with his friends in Siliguri because of a bent rim. Meanwhile I called a mechanic and he asked me to meet him at about 5:00 PM so that we could go and get Storm Shadow and get it going.
We then went and checked the bent rim and it was quite bad but not so much as to scrap it away We asked the guys if they could remove the bend, they said no.We then asked them how long would it take for a new rim. As always, the guys at ASC said 30 days to get the rim. We were like Dude why the hell have you guys opened shop in India? Were we not better off getting bikes into India from outside, get it serviced through superbike technicians who had set up their own workshop & source the parts from Thailand & get then in 5-7 days. Here the company was like "Take it or Leave it we here are going to take our sweet time and your sweet money" which was kind of annoying.
We then went out for lunch. Meanwhile this guy called up a few and finally one of them said that he could fix but would need time. So the guy finally decided to let Versys rest & picked up an RE ..
At 5:00 pm I reached the workshop. The Technician then sent with me his assistant. We then went to Bagdogra picked up Storm Shadow & in no time we were back in Siliguri .
Storm Shadow was then checked thoroughly and a total service was done. It hardly took time.I then came back to room & went to bed. Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day as I would be continuing my ride after 5 days break.
Calling off for the day!! Goodnight folks.
