He inspected the bike, now we come to know that the clutch assembly is fried up. All the plates badly worn off, in the assembly the nut is jammed into the hub. The drained oil is burnt & lesser in quantity. The reason given by him is 'The clutch assembly is burnt off and jammed because the clutch assembly did not have enough supply of oil.'
That's what is jammed.
Black deposits in the clutch hub.
Kawasaki Versys died on me in just 12 days and about 6,300 kms since the tour started. So much for a Tourer. Since parts are not available the bike has to be shipped either to Delhi or back to base ie Bangalore.
Don't know what's going to happen but before I started my ride, many of my friends & riders said, 'The Kawasaki' will do 18,000 kms at a stretch without any issues, will you be able to do it? Well now I see that it has died in 12 days and just 6,300 kms (Just 1/3rd of the distance it had to cover).
Spoke to employees from the company and I am being told that the parts are unavailable in India and that it would take a minimum of 30-45 days as they have to be imported from Thailand on need basis. When I asked them to expedite, they flatly refused saying this is the norm.
Is this how Kawasaki works in other markets too?
Is this acceptable?
Do we pay premium to get such shoddy response of company?
What am I going to do?
- Call off my ride go home?
- Scout for a bike to complete my ride?
Good Night!!
Now that totally sucks.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to complete your journey.
Yeah brother working on options. Let's see what happens.
DeleteVersys is not as good as Kawasaki wants people to believe. My '12 2nd gen broke down on my Europe trip while i was 4000km away from home. Only had 55000 km on it. The classic valve problem.
ReplyDeleteSorry to know your issue Bro. The worst part is the Japanese at Kawasaki think that they can never go wrong and that all fault lies with the rider. Add to that the indifference of their Indian counterparts. Its a shame I have to approach judiciary to sort this issue out. But I am left with no option and I have decided to take the Japs head on.
